4 Home Carpet Cleaning Tips

4 Home Carpet Cleaning Tips

Tip #1: Give your carpet a deep, thorough cleaning every six months, or as often as needed. You can either hire the services of professional cleaners, or do it yourself using the appropriate apparatus. You can probably clean your carpet yourself with the help of various carpet cleaning products, but if your carpet has major stains or need major cleaning, it is best to give the job to the professional carpet cleaners.

Tip #2: Take care of spills promptly to prevent them from becoming stains. Often, you can simply use water to remove a spill on your carpet. You can also use a mixture of water and vinegar to take stains out. Otherwise look for a product out in the market that matches the type of spill to clean.

Tip #3: Make time for frequent vacuuming, daily if possible. Running the vacuum cleaner several times over the same area in different directions will allow the machine to pick up more unwanted bits and pieces. Use a high quality vacuum if you want the carpet immaculate.

Tip #4: Place a doormat at the entrance to your place or rooms. Doing so lessens the amount of dirt and soils that are deposited on the carpet through people’s shoes. You may also want to practice the custom of removing your shoes before entering a room. If it is not too much to ask, make your guests do the same.

Did you know that 80% of the dirt that enters a house or building is dry, while the rest are greases, oils and starches? Vacuum cleaners can easily dispose of dry dirt, so if you vacuum daily, you are already doing good maintenance.

Well-maintained carpets have longer life spans, add value to the house and keep odors away. Clean carpets make living at home and entertaining visitors in them healthier and more comfortable experiences.
